A cyclist who was struck and killed early Monday morning on Moline has been indentified.

63-year-old Robert Moldenhauer of Moline was struck at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 26th Street.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. when Moldenhauer was hit by a Chevy van.

According to the Moline Police Department, the he  hauling a bag of cans with him on his bicycle when the collision occurred.

Officials  shut down 6th Avenue between 25th and 27th for an investigation into the incident.

Moldenhauer was taken by Moline Fire Department to Genesis Medical Center in Silvis where he was pronounced dead.
