The flu is reaching epidemic proportions.

You know it's bad when an entire school has to close due to sickness. According to KWQC, Our Lady of Grace Academy in East Moline was closed today because 1/4 of their student body (over 44 students), along with two of the school's 11 teachers were absent because of the illness.

Other QCA schools have been forced to close recently for the same reason, including Prince of Peace in Clinton and Unity Christian School in Fulton. 43 flu-related deaths have occurred in Illinois alone, so it seems the schools have decided to err on the side of caution.

The Illinois Department of Health is stressing the importance of the '3 Cs' during this outbreak: clean, cover, and contain to stop the spread of germs. Wash your hands, and if you're already sick, cover your cough and sneeze and stay at home. Everyone must remain vigilant to get this flu to die down.
