Car Accident in Bettendorf Knocks Out Power

A single vehicle accident left a driver severely injured, and many Bettendorf residents without power yesterday afternoon.

According to Bettendorf Police, a male driver crashed into a power pole on Middle Road near 14th Street at approximately 3:57pm on Wednesday. The collision caused power lines to fall into the road. Police closed Middle Road in the area while Mid American crews shut off power to the affected lines and worked to remove fallen wires from the roadway,  so emergency crews could extricate the driver from his vehicle.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to hospital. Details on his condition, and charges in the incident, are pending.
