The car theft and break in trend around the Quad Cities is showing no signs of slowing down, and cops are fed up with it.

In fact, according to WQAD, 12 vehicles were broken into and two stolen this past weekend in Coal Valley. The news outlet reports that the crimes are happening in every neighborhood and to every type of vehicle.

The theme among all of the victims from this last weekend? Every one of the 14 cars had been left unlocked. This has been the case with many of the break-ins over the last couple of years, and authorities are sick of it.

It's understandable to forget to lock your doors every once in a while, but considering how many vehicle crimes have taken place lately, it's time to double and triple check.
