It's a new month... "Rabbit, rabbit!"

1 - Saying the words "rabbit, rabbit" first thing upon waking on the first day of the month is supposed to bring good luck for the remainder of the month. No one knows the origin of the superstition, but it could date back as far as the 13th century. Why say, "rabbit" instead of "luck," or "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?" According to Wikipedia, a rabbit “is jumping into the future and moving ahead with life and happiness.”

2 - Davenport Police responded to a shots fired call at NorthPark Mall last evening. Our roving reporter Andrew Ball was on the scene while police investigated. Witnesses told the Quad City Times that they heard shots and tires squealing afterwards. Police report finding shell casings on the scene.

3 - The Quad City Mallards scored two late third period goals to win their third game in a row last night. The road victory moved the Flock into a tie for third place in the ECHL's Central Division with a 28-18 record. Their next game is at the iWireless Center on Saturday.
