The weekend is near, and the temps today will be summer-like.

- We're starting with a pretty mild morning and temps will continue to climb to a forecast high of 75º once the clouds clear. Rain is on tap for the rest of the weekend though. WQAD Meteorologist Eric Sorensen has the details here.

- Parents are struggling to get answers from the Rock Island-Milan School District after a Washington Jr. High Student was expelled for allegedly sexually assaulting another student, the second of two attacks. Barb Ickes of the Quad City Times writes about her efforts to get answers from the Board. As a parent of a Washington Jr. High student, I've also gathered my thoughts here.

- 1970's rockers Blue Oyster Cult take the stage at the Isle Casino Hotel tonight. I've got two pairs of tickets to give away this morning during the 7am and 8am hour on The Morning KIIK Start.

- The Lady Hawkeyes basketball team defeated Colorado last night to move on to the Quarter Finals of the Women's NIT. Details when we do That Sports Thing at around 7:35am.
