After a couple of weeks of hot temps, the Quad Cities received some much needed rain yesterday, but it was a case of going from one extreme to another.

Heavy rain began to fall around the afternoon commute, and soon many low-lying roads were flooded.

According to published reports, renters in the Woodland Apartments in Davenport experienced flooding in their units.

The flooding resulted in the Red Cross opening an emergency shelter at Lincoln School in davenport that will remain open today in anticipation of another 2-4" of heavy rain.

Standing water near a construction project on River Drive at Federal Street in Davenport caused some traffic delays this morning.
