The Friends of Vander Veer and Davenport Parks and Recreation are screening the 1982 film Annie tonight at the Vander Veer Botanical Park. The film is an adaptation of the musical, which is based on the comic strip. Food vendors will be open in the park tonight at 6PM CT and family friendly events will begin at 7PM CT. If you'd like you can dress as your favorite film character for the costume parade at 7:30PM. The screening will start at Dusk.

Annie tells the story of a young orphan girls adventures in finding a family to find her. The 1982 version starred Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan and Aileen Quinn as Annie. Also appearing in the film Bernadette Peters and Tim Curry.

I remember my grandmother trying to take me to see it that summer, however, the movie theater we went to was sold out. I think I finally saw it on cable the next year! I checked IMDB to see how popular the film was and Annie was a top 10 film with a limited release, which probably explains the sold out show. You can learn more about this version of Annie here.
