One of the cherished items from back home that I always keep in my pantry is a bottle of Quebec Maple Syrup to slather on pancakes. Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby.

Today is National Pancake Day, and I really didn't have time to make pancakes at home, so that means a trip to IHOP to celebrate.

According to Fortune magazine, IHOP is offering "a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes at IHOP restaurants across the country on Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m." In return, the restaurant is asking diners to make a donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

National Pancake Day was started in 2006, and has raised $24 million for charities, according to IHOP's website. Its goal for this year is to raise $3.5 million.

Bring your own syrup if necessary.
