Police in Full Force on I-80 Tonight

If you drive I-80, consider this your heads up.

If you've ever seen a lot of police out on the interstate, what's the first thing someone always says?

'They must need to make their quota!'

I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say that. Despite that thought, there is a nationwide reason they will be out tonight.

According to WQAD.com,

"It’s part of a 20-state initiative called “Click It or Ticket, Border to Border Operation,” designed to reduce traffic fatalities by  focusing on the four violations that are most likely to lead to a fatal crash.  They are speeding, DUI, distracted driving, and seat belt usage.

“Seat belts save lives.  The simple act of wearing a seat belt can reduce your chances of being injured or killed in a serious traffic crash.  Seat belt usage applies to every passenger in a vehicle, not just the driver,” said a statement from Illinois State Police.

The Illinois enforcement effort spans 163 miles of I-80."

Illinois Police will be looking for the Top 4 traffic violations tonight that lead to accidents and fatalities: speeding, DUI, distracted driving and no seat belt.
