Some of us take sleeping for granted, but if you didn't have a bed to sleep in or get a good night's rest that can create some challenging mornings.

Local Quad City non-profit, One Eighty leaders say hundreds of kids don't have a bed to sleep in. According to an OurQuadCities.com article last year the organization gave beds to 215 kids. So far this year, they've donated over half that amount.

Jeff Breheny is the head of the Prevent program which partners with Davenport Community Schools to help identify families in need and works to get them furniture, appliances and beds.

"People don't know how many children in this area at this point in time are actually sleeping on a floor," he said.

One Eighty has king, queen and full size beds, but they need twin mattresses. 20 families are waiting for twin sized beds.

Here's how you can help.  Donate your gently-used twin mattress to One-Eighty by calling  563-424-4589 to set up a time for pick up. Monetary donations will be accepted as well.
