Get excited, McDonald's lovers. Starting in January, the chain is bringing back their dollar menu-which had previously been phased out in 2013- and this time, it has a new twist.

According to Business Insider, not only will Mickey D's be offering a brand new menu of $1 options nationwide, but they'll also be featuring $2 and $3 items as well.

Included in the new $1 menu are:

  • Sausage Burrito
  • McChicken
  • Cheeseburger
  • Any size soft drink

$2 Menu items include:

  • Sausage McGriddle
  • 2 piece Buttermilk Crispy Tenders
  • Bacon McDouble
  • Small McCafe Beverage (but, oddly, not regular or iced coffee)

$3 Menu items include:

  • Sausage McMuffin with Egg
  • New Classic Chicken Sandwich
  • Triple Cheeseburger
  • Happy Meal

The chain has never before offered Happy Meals as part of a value menu, which is big news for parents (or Happy Meal toy collectors). And the fact that you could get a filling (but not particularly nutritious) lunch for just a couple of bucks is nice.

However, I am a little confused by McCafe beverages being on the $2 menu, but not including regular old coffee. Shouldn't that be cheaper than lattes and cappuccinos?  And I do think milkshakes and fries should have been included on the list, but maybe that's just me. Overall, I'm sure the new menus will please diehard McDonald's fans, but there's still room for improvement.
