Quad Cities Electricity ‘Peak Alerts’ Due to Heat

What's the first thing we do when we know it's going to be a scorcher day? You know it. We crank up the air conditioning so our homes can be nice and cool when we get home from work. Remaining comfortable at home is one of the luxuries most of us allow ourselves in this day and age, especially when temps get this hot. Tomorrow will be no different.

Even though 'MidAmerican Energy has sufficient generating capacity to meet this summer’s expected maximum, or peak demand, plus a reserve margin.' according to an article at QCTimes.com, they are asking customers to reduce usage during peak hours.

Using appliances like washers and dishwashers early in the morning or later in the evening, using fans to help circulate air throughout the house and turning up the thermostat just a few degrees if your air is on, are just a few ways MidAmerican Energy suggests reducing usage on such hot days.
