Hallowe'en is not complete for me until I've watched Linus wait for The Great Pumpkin to arrive in 'It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.'  The story, the visuals, the music, they all set the mood of the holiday for me.

The Quad Cities region is home to a few real life pumpkin patches where you can choose a gourd to decorate your home, or just get in touch with your inner Linus.

At Country Corner in Alpha, Illinois - Pick your own pumpkin, or chose from those already picked. There's much more to do at Country Corner as well. They have a petting zoo, country market, and hayrack rides. At night, gather around the bonfire pits, or negotiate the nighttime paintball maze, and corn maze.

There's also lots to do with your family and friends at Buffalo Pumpkin Patch in Buffalo, Iowa.  You can pick your own pumpkins, visit farm animals, try pony rides and goat chariots, or enjoy the straw castle maze.

Another great place where you can pick your own pumpkins is Pride of the Wapsi in Long Grove, Iowa. They also have a great variety of activities for families – a barrel train, sandbox, petting zoo, and of course, a corn maze.

Whichever patch you choose, make sure you bring a blanket, and be very sincere.
