I've been watching their Facebook page since November and I'm intrigued! There are pun filled posts teasing the opening date but I haven't seen a tentative date until I noticed a QCTimes.com article announcing a March, 2019 opening.

According to the QC Times, if you're passing by East 3rd Street in downtown Davenport (across the street from Great River Brewery), you'll see a poster of HALF the face of country singer Willie Nelson.

The black-and-white photo is accompanied by the message: “Even half a nelson can be recognized as a country legend. Half Nelson. A new restaurant. Legendary. Soon.”

The sign is hinting at the eatery — called The Half Nelson — expected to open in early March. The owner is Matthew Osborn who is the son of Mike and Carla Osborn, QC restaurant owners of Miss Mamie's and Mo Brady's.

The article states, “the menu, which includes lunch and dinner and a unique bar program, draws influence from regional trends and ethnic cuisine as well as seasonality of ingredients. Osborn said the restaurant will serve plenty of vegetarian options, “beyond just big salads.”

Their Facebook page has photos of steak, pizza and mentions of beef wellington and I'm drooling.

The QC Times article also states, "the 4,000-square-foot Half Nelson takes up the east half of the historic building at 321 E. 3rd St., Davenport. It was built in 1922 by the N.O. Nelson Manufacturing Co., a Missouri-based manufacturer of plumbing and heating systems."

We'll keep you posted on an official opening date.
