With summer approaching, road trips are on my mind, so I'm loving the Buzzfeed list of the "most amazing" places to take children in each of the fifty states. The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor and Museum in LeMars was clearly the winner for Iowa, and I'm thinking I need to add it to my summer bucket list.

LeMars is known for being the "ice cream capital" of the world, and the self-guided tour at the parlor looks both fun and delicious.

Here's how the Blue Bunny Facebook page describes the parlor and museum:

"The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor is a perfect destination for groups who want to learn more about the Blue Bunny brand and its history while getting a taste of our hard-dipped ice creams and specialty ice cream desserts in the old fashioned parlor setting. Videos, photos, and archival pieces document our 100 year history as a company and these exhibits are displayed throughout both levels of the parlor. We encourage visitors to allot plenty of time to take the self tour."

LeMars is a bit of a hike from the QC, but I could definitely see myself making a trip to the area over the summer. As much as I love Whitey's, I think it would be really fun (not to mention tasty) to check out the history of Blue Bunny, and I know for sure that my daughter would love the experience, too.
