Three people, including two children, were killed and eight others were injured in an accident on I-80 Saturday morning.

The accident occurred near Anita, Iowa, 60 miles west of Des Moines.

A semi traveling on the westbound I-80 lost control in the snow, crossing the median into oncoming traffic hitting a minivan.

The semi landed in a ditch, but an SUV hit the tractor-trailer that was still blocking portions of the interstate.

The semi was carrying hazardous materials that spilled onto the interstate.

An 11-year-old and 14-year-old, both of Audubon, Iowa were killed in the accident.

41-year-old Rodney Sanborn of Gretna, Nebraska was also killed in the crash.

All three were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

There is no current information on others injured in the incident.
