The Freight House in Davenport is one of the most unique and historic buildings in the Quad Cities. Since it's rehabilitation, it has acted as the hub for the Farmer's Market, and it has housed a variety of venues including a comedy club and a piano bar.

After sitting empty for the past decade, two sections of the Freight House will soon house new restaurants.

According to a KWQC report, 'Taste of Ethiopia,' a restaurant Downtown Davenport calls 'masters of spice and flavor' will take up residence in the Package Express area of the building next Spring if approved by Davenport council.

Our friends at Local 4 News are also reporting that a new home-cooking restaurant will open soon on the second floor of the Freight House. Build-out is almost complete on The Diner, A place that will feature 'down home cooking.'  Local 4 News reports that "The Diner is located on the second floor, and includes an outdoor patio looking out onto the Mississippi River, and the farmer's market below."  The Diner is expected to open November 1.

I can't wait to try both places.
