I bawled like a baby yesterday when I read this story. I absolutely love hearing about the good people are doing everyday. With so much negative news around us constantly, I love reading a news headline about people to take action to help others. This story had me in tears almost instantly.

A 9-1-1 operator received a call from an elderly man, upset, because he didn't have groceries. That is what made me cry. The simple thought of an elderly person alone and hungry, after cancer treatments. The thought of no one there to care for him just tore me up...and still does!

What she did next is what we all should be doing as often as possible in our lives. SHE HELPED HIM. This woman could have told him to call a family member or local food bank. But she didn't and that is what I admire about her character. She took a break, went to the grocery store, showed up to his house and made him something to eat. The local police joined her too. THAT is public service. That makes me proud of my fellow humans.

Now, this story begs the question: What can WE do today to help someone else? As Gandhi is well-known for saying, "BE the change you want to see the in world."
