We're just a week past the 53rd anniversary of The Beatles making their American debut on TV's The Ed Sullivan Show. Five decades later The Fab Four from Liverpool still retain their place in the pantheon of pop culture history. My son, two generations removed from Beatlemania loves listening to their music.

Now Quad Cities Beatles fans can view the history of the band up close when The Magical History Tour: A Beatles Exhibition opens at the Putnam Museum on March 11.

The exhibition will feature incredibly rare artifacts from the band's early days in Liverpool. You'll be able to experience what it was like to be at a Beatles concert, while viewing some of the thousands of pieces of concert memorabilia. Attendees will also be able to experiment with mixing a Beatles album in the studio.

The Beatles film A Hard Day's Night will be screening during the entire run of the exhibit as well.
