Bone-chilling Cold is Returning to the Quad Cities Next Week
Hope you're soaking up the sunny, 40 degree plus days this week.
We're in for a rude weather awakening soon.
WQAD reports that although the rest of this week should be pretty calm and sunny, next week is going to be a doozy in comparison.
Bright skies will prevail for the rest of the workweek with highs both Wednesday and Thursday between 45-50 degrees. A brief chill blows in on Friday in the upper 30s with highs returning in the 40s for the upcoming weekend. There will be an increase in clouds on Sunday as the next weather system tracks near the area. This may lead to a light rain/snow mix or light snow later Monday into Tuesday. A bit far off, as the track will be the key. Whether we see this moisture or not, it will send down some good ole’ fashion winter cold for most of next week.
In fact, according to the National Weather Service, by next Wednesday, December 11, the high in Davenport will be just 17 degrees with a low of 13. That's a 33-degree drop off from the predicted high of 50 degrees on Sunday. The long term forecast predicts things will stay quite chilly until the week before Christmas.
Hold on to your hats, Quad Cities. Winter hasn't even officially begun.
