Do you know where to get the best margarita in the Quad Cities? That's what the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and VIVA Quad Cities want to know.

Not only do they want to recognize the best marg in the QCA, the nonprofit organizations want to raise some money for Quad City student scholarships too. This is a tasty way to do both.

One of the best margaritas I've had in town is from Lo Piez New York Style Pizza in Davenport. The pic doesn't do it justice. You just have to try it. Who do you think serves the best margarita in the Quad Cities?

Here’s how the contest works. Through the month August, order margaritas from restaurants registered with the contest. You have the option to cast your vote in a canister inside each restaurant who’s participating, according to Yvonne Savala, a board member for VIVA and the Chamber.

Even though the focus in on the margarita, it’s hoped the contest will raise money for the League of United Latin American Citizens, which provides educational scholarships to eligible QC area students. Of course you can always contribute to the organization without participating in the contest.

Applications are available here for restaurants to sign up and participate in the contest. Registration closes at the end of July, and voting begins in August. All votes must be in by Aug. 31, and a restaurant’s vote tally is due to the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce by Sept. 1.

Businesses do not have to be a member of the Chamber to participate but must submit a $100 application fee.

Now I'm thirsty for a margarita....or two.

According to the QC Times, a list of participating restaurants will be uploaded to the chamber’s website and social media.

The contest winner will make the margarita in the online fundraising video for the competition, Mariachis & Margarita. The video will be released to view on Sept. 9. In October, the winner will be featured on the WHBF-TV news program Living Local.

Let's get those restaurants registered and drink some margaritas.
