Celebrating A Life Well Lived

Babies and grandparents have always fascinated me. How they interact and make each other smile. Kamdyn makes lots of people smile but her grandparents always seem to be very happy when she's around. That included her great-grandmother Irene who passed away late last week. Today I'll be going to Dubuque to attend her funeral and celebrate her life with my family.

When my dad remarried a few years back Irene came into our life and was always so nice to me and my family. She would joke with me about being nice to my wife Katie and she always was so glad when we would visit, even if it was for just a few minutes. She loved both my daughter's and was always excited to hold our nine month old baby Kamdyn. These pictures were from the summer when we happened to be in Dubuque for a visit.

To see a 93 year old great-grandmother fuss over a 9 month baby reminded me of how simple life can be at times. So today there will be a few tears I'm sure but mostly smiles as we remember a life well lived for someone who always made sure she let you know she loved you. A pretty good lesson.
