After a night of civil unrest in Davenport, Scott County Emergency Management Agency have declared a Civil Emergency Warning for the Davenport area.

As most Quad Citizens were asleep last night, violent and deadly protests broke out in Davenport. According to our news partner, Local 4 News, Scott County EMA released this warning:

...CIVIL EMERGENCY DECLARED FOR THE DAVENPORT AREA...

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE SCOTT
COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT.

DUE TO CIVIL UNREST IN THE DAVENPORT AREA, THE DAVENPORT POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND CITY OFFICIALS REQUEST ALL RESIDENTS STAY IN THEIR
HOMES AND SHELTER IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION WILL BE SHARED WHEN AVAILABLE.

The shelter in place is not mandatory but highly recommended by Davenport city officials.


According to KWQC, two people are dead and two others were injured during those protests and looting last night. A Davenport Police officer was among those injured. The two people killed were shot at the Walmart on West Kimberly.

KWQC also reported a shooting at Neckers Jewelers in Davenport where more than 30 shell casings were found.

Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski said that officers were ambushed in the area of 15th Street and Myrtle. Several rounds were shot at the officers patrolling the area, and one officer was hit. That officer is currently in the hospital.

Mike Matson and Paul Sikorski are asking Governor Kim Reynolds for the Iowa National Guard to be be deployed to Davenport to assist Davenport police officers.
