I'm am so happy to announce that our fair has finally come to town.

While a lot of us are excited for the amazing music acts coming in, some of us are looking forward to the rides and all the games (that just don't seem possible to win). There are a few fair goers, like myself, who are looking forward to the best part of any fair. That, of course, is the amazing food you can find lined up and down the midway.

So, as a show of love, I am going to list the top 5 foods I am looking forward to and that I think are must-haves.

1. Corn Dogs

That's right. We start off with the icon of any fair with a delicious hot dog dipped and deep fried.  Throw on some mustard and ketchup and it's a snack not to be beat.

2. Funnel Cakes

The amazing combination of deep fried dough covered in powdered sugar.

3. Lemonade shake-ups

Water, lemon juice, sugar. It's not a food but this is definitely a must-have to wash all the tasty food down.

4. Cotton Candy

Sugar spun and put in a bag to give you the tasty jitters. It also reminds you of being a kid again.

5. Corn on the Cob

This one may be a surprise to some, I'm guessing. If you haven't tried the grilled corn on the cob with a generous amount of butter and some seasoned salt, you have not been to a fair in Iowa. What a great local item.

Now this is in no way a complete list of all the amazing things to try, but this is the list of must-haves at the Mississippi Valley Fair this week.  As far as I am concerned, anything on a stick is gonna be a good time. I leave you with this, what are you looking forward to the most?
