Mother Nature had one more taste of summer for the Quad Cities last night in the form of a severe thunderstorm that blew through just before 11pm.

Wind and rain caused some serious damage in parts of the QCA, and there were some reports of tornados on the ground around Muscatine and Colona.

National Weather Service officials will be negotiating downed limbs and tree debris as they deploy throughout the area to assess the damage from the storm.

As of 10:00am Friday, over 2000 Mid-American customers remained without power on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities. The outages resulted in two hour delays to the start of the school day at Bettendorf High School, Grant Wood and Herbert Hoover Elementary schools in Bettendorf, as well as Hopewell School in the Pleasant Valley School District.
