Before I even start on this let me just make this sound through the blog... UGGGGHGHGHHHH!!!!!!
Apparently, another 'viral challenge' is making its round on social media which has prompted fire officials on the East Coast to issue a warning. You know how everyone makes fun of people putting forks in outlets? Kids on TikTok are doing that using a penny and a charger. The Holden Fire Department in Massachusetts has issued a warning to parents which needs to go viral, instead of this stupid challenge.

The fire department in their Facebook post said:

The result is sparks, electrical system damage, and in some cases fire.

Why do they have to even say that or remind people?!

  • Insert plugs fully into sockets
  • If you have young children, install tamper-resistant electrical outlets
  • Replace wall outlets if plugs do not fit tightly, or show signs of damage.
  • Do not overload outlets
  • Never force a three-pronged plug into a two slot outlet.

The statement ends with this message,

"In addition to electrical fire safety, the department would like to remind parents and children to discuss the dangers of certain online “challenges” and recognizing the dangerous activity on the internet,"

Parents, watch your kids and their social media. They could be doing stuff like the 'outlet challenge.'
