If your holiday meal is planned and ingredients already purchased, why not stop by and pick up a ham for someone in need.

Hy-Vee is giving away 400 holiday hams to families in need beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Goose Creek Park, 6000 Scott St., Davenport.

Employees and Quad-City First Responders will distribute the Hormel hams for two hours, or until they are gone.
According to a news release, the distribution is part of the second annual Hy-Vee Hams for the Holidays program. Overall, the company is distributing nearly 5,300 hams at 20 locations in eight states.
Hy-Vee’s Hams for the Holidays donations come from the Hormel® Cure 81® Hams for Hunger™ program that was founded in 1989. The program involves a partnership between Hormel Foods and grocery retailers across the country. Throughout the years, more than $13 million in hams have been donated, feeding tens of thousands of families.
