All my daughters are artistic in their own way. One, in particular, likes to draw ... on herself. It started there, but didn't end there. My youngest had Sharpie creations all over her, and began using Sharpies on her friends (much to the dismay of other Moms), just like her older sister. I entered play date 'hell', had to have 'talks' with other parents and finally, had to step in.

Not only are pens and markers toxic on the skin, they are hard to scrub off! It would seem pen and paper no longer satisfied her endeavors. We both got sick of her getting into trouble for it and my youngest missed the attention of getting to hang out and be 'cool' with her older sister. I had to think of a positive way to help her explore this creative outlet.

I was shopping at QC India Market in Bettendorf, IA. for my favorite foods and spotted a tube of henna. Of course! She can give us non-toxic, herbal, henna tattoos! It was the perfect solution to her skin-drawings!

Henna is an herb that has been used for thousands of years in different cultures during times of celebration, like holy days and weddings. Because of it's semi-permanent properties, it has also been used as a natural option for hair dye in black, brown and copper tones.

No doubt, my daughter is talented. She looked at one tutorial on Youtube (seriously, thank God for Youtube!) and started with her very first, henna tattoo on my foot! I feel so privileged that she wanted to do her first one on me and from now on, the whole family is excited to see what creation she will come up with next!
