The Quad Cities has seen plenty of ice in our area this past week, but Davenport will get a special shipment of frozen water for Icestravaganza at the Freight House.

Icestravaganza is a winter event that features over 24,000 pounds of ice which will be transformed into huge, breathtaking sculptures. This year's event has been expanded to three days, Friday, January 15 through Sunday, January 17, weather permitting at the Freight House parking lot, 421 W. River Drive, Davenport.

Sculptures are lit each night from dusk til 10 pm. Event planners say there will be more sculptures this year in a more spread out area to accommodate social distancing.

The theme for this year’s Icestravaganza will be a “Chilling Winter at the Freight House” with the sculptures being Halloween-themed with witches, haunted houses, jack-o-lanterns and ghouls.

The Downtown Davenport Partnership will do a Facebook live stream during the carving competition. If you've never been to the event before, it's always fun to watch a solid block of ice get transformed into amazing pieces of art.  The livestream will give another option for people to engage with the event from the comfort of their homes.

Over 24,000 pounds of ice will be turned into ice carvings at the annual Icestravaganza at the Freight House in Downtown...
