We trust that when we send our children to daycare, they'll be safe and protected. That's why stories like this make me sick to my stomach.

ABC 7 reports that three workers at Kiddie Junction Daycare in Des Plaines, IL were arrested after being reported for suspicious behavior. The teachers admitted to giving a classroom of two-year-olds melatonin gummy bears to "calm them down" before nap time.

The most horrifying part is that the gummy bears were given without parental consent. Still, workers said they did not find their actions "inappropriate."

I can understand that a classroom full of active toddlers is probably hard to manage at times, but giving children sleep aids (especially without notifying their parents first) is a bad idea, no matter how you slice it. They're lucky they didn't make any of the kids sick.
