Illinois License Not Enough for Arsenal

Despite the warnings and stories we have heard, I just didn't think this would go into effect so soon!

When I first heard about the license 'issue' in the State of IL. I honestly felt like it was just one more problem those who live in IL. have to face. I mean, bankruptcy, budget cuts, not being able to pay bills, cutbacks on funding to schools, etc..., IL. didn't need anymore 'bad' press.

Then, it was announced that IL. drivers licenses may not be valid, or enough of a form of identification, federally. And wouldn't ya know my luck, I had JUST gotten my new license! I just got it! Then this.

And now, this:

“As a result of Department of Defense guidance, effective Monday, January 18, 2016 Rock Island Arsenal will no longer accept Illinois state driver’s licenses or identification cards from the states that issue licenses or identification cards that are not compliant with the Federal Real ID Act of 2005 as a primary means to obtain a pass to enter the Arsenal,” said a statement issued Thursday, January 14, 2016, by Arsenal spokesman Eric Cramer.

So, what else do you need if you want to get on a valid passport, permanent resident or alien registration receipt card, and employment authorization document that includes a photo, a U.S. military record or draft record, Coast Guard Merchant Mariner cards, a transportation worker identification card, and a Native American tribal document.

So far, this won't start effecting your travel plans until January 22, 2016. Once that date hits, other forms of identification are needed.
