The Iowa Hawkeyes Big 10 season continues Thursday night in Iowa City when Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans return to Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Michigan State lost a close one 55-54 to Purdue last Friday night in East  Lansing, MI. The Spartans are 8-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

But the Hawks (11-2, 5-1) know how tough Michigan State can be, even on the road. In their last visit to Iowa City on January 24, 2019 they defeated Iowa 82-67. But that was nearly two years ago.

These are two very different teams right now, with Iowa ranked #5 and the struggling Spartans are unranked. Iowa has won five of its last six games, including four straight, while Michigan State has lost four of it's last six matches.

According to the Iowa Hawkeyes Game Day Report, the nation's top scorer, Luka Garza put up 33 points against Minnesota; it's the sixth time he's scored 30+ points in a game this season. Luka ranks first in the country averaging 27.6 points per game.

Jordan Bohannon was named the Big 10 Player of the Week, delivering another smashing performance against Minnesota, raising his numbers to a blistering 62.5 percent from 3-point range. Iowa is 8-0 this season when Bohannon makes multiple 3-pointers, and he's made three or more triples in five of Iowa’s last six games.

Joe Wieskamp scored 20 points on Sunday against Minnesota including his second-half free throw that made him the 50th Hawkeye to reach 1,000 career points.

Tip off time is 8:07 p.m. this Thursday night.
