Let's face it, we are all pretty damn stressed during this coronavirus pandemic. But let's take that out for a brief moment (kind of) and look at how stressed each state is because of work, money, family, healthy and safety.

The company WalletHub, a personal finance website based out of Washington, D.C., compared all 50 states and Washington, D.C. off of 4 key categories,

  1. Work-Related Stress
  2. Money-Related Stress
  3. Family-Related Stress
  4. Health- & Safety-Related Stress

They evaluated those categories using 41 relevant metrics, which are weighted differently. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of stress. They then determined each state’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank each state. Here is what they found.

Iowa ranks as the 47th most stressed state, or the 4th least stressed state. Iowa has a cumulative score of 31.38 . It ranks at 47th in work-related stress, 45th in money-related stress, 42nd in family-related stress, and 39th in health & safety-related stress.

Illinois sits in the middle of the pack and is ranked as the 24th most stressed state. Illinois has a cumulative score of 41.70. It ranks at 7th in work-related stress, 24th in money-related stress, 33rd in family-related stress, and 28th in health & safety-related stress.
