Lady Antebellum are planning a few months off, and Dave Haywood says he's looking forward to relaxing ... and getting back to work. Sure, it seems like the two ideas conflict each other, but when you hear him explain what he's got planned, it all makes sense.

The "Long Stretch of Love" singers announced they were taking time off after their current tour, but Haywood snuffs out any rumor of something bigger by saying part of that time will be spent plugging back into the Nashville music scene. He has writing dates scheduled and looks forward to finding local inspiration.

“We love writing on the road, but I think we miss writing some when we’re back at home,” Haywood recently told Taste of Country Nights radio. It's not clear when Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott will officially tour together again, but it seems like it will likely come after Kelley's wife deliver's the couple's first baby.

Haywood's son Cash recently celebrated his first birthday, and his parents helped him throw down with a big pool party at the house.

“We had all kinds of water slides and things for other kids to do," he says. It was fun. We had a cake for him to smash and play with … it was kind of just excuse to have an adult party.”

Dave Haywood will come home after the final Wheels Up tour stop and fall into a routine that involves getting up with Cash early every other day. This fall he hopes to take the family to a University of Georgia football game, and outside of that, he says he just wants to be a family man for awhile.
