Local Ice Cream Treat Takes First At National Dairy Expo
We know that Whitey's Ice Cream is arguably the best in the Quad Cities. When it comes to Whitey's Chipper Ice Cream Sandwich the experts agree.
For those that don't know, the Chipper is a heaping scoop of Whitey's Ice Cream smashed between two homemade cookies to make an ice cream sandwich. According to WQAD television, the Chipper took first place at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin in the ice cream sandwich category.
Whitey's employees told WQAD their ice cream sandwich sticks out because each one is unique. Whitey's Director of Marketing Annika Tunberg told the TV station, "It`s a pretty big deal when you are in the dairy industry. It`s not something everyone here is about, but obviously for ice cream makers, we tend to take it pretty seriously, and it`s pretty exciting."
The Chipper received a 99.99% score in their category, meaning judges thought it was almost perfect.
The Chipper comes in three different flavors: "The Original" chocolate chip ice cream between chocolate chip cookies. "The Mint Chipper" mint chocolate chip ice cream between chocolate cookies. And the fall favorite. "The Harvest Chipper" pumpkin ice cream between spice cookies.
I'm a hot fudge sundae made with chocolate ice cream guy when I go to Whitey's, but I may have to try the Mint Chipper the next time I drop in.
