Minimum Wage Goes Up Today in Illinois
If you've been working for minimum wage in Illinois you'll soon see more money in your paycheck starting today.
You may recall at the beginning of 2020 (before things got really weird) minimum wage in Illinois went up from $8.25 to $9.25 an hour. Now it's climbing a bit more.
As of July 1, 2020 the minimum wage in Illinois is $10; a .75 cent per hour increase.
It's part of the SB1 Governor Pritzker sign on February, 19 2019. All part of a multi-year plan that will increase the minimum wage all the way up to $15 an hour.
If you work for tips, the Illinois Department of Labor says you may be paid 60% of the hourly minimum wage.
