KWQC reports 21 cats were removed from a home in Bettendorf last week.

The Humane Society of Scott County coordinated the rescue with help from the Bettendorf Police Department.

The Humane Society shared in a Facebook post that the cats were living in a hoarding situation and needed immediate medical care upon their removal.

"We extracted 21 cats out of a single-family home and into our care as part of hoarding situation," officials said in the post. "Conditions were dingy, dirty, wet and resources were scarce for these cats and kittens."

The Humane Society is now trying to secure funds to help vaccinate, spay, neuter, provide medical testing, and more for these cats, in hopes of re-homing the animals in the coming months. So far, the organization has raised around $575.
