According to a story in the Quad City Times, Mediacom is planning a service outage on September 20th from midnight to 6 am in order to reroute a span of fiber optic cable. The move is necessary in order to accommodate construction of the I-74 bridge from Bettendorf to Moline.

Around 30,000 customers will be affected and be without television, internet and phone service during that time. The largest region affected will be Bettendorf but will also include areas as far away as Clinton and Maquoketa in Iowa and Carroll and Whiteside Counties in Illinois. So no Netflix, late night phone calls or reruns of Cops. Plan head with a good book that you can get without downloading it from Amazon. And save the, did you know there is an outage call?
