I can't say that I'm surprised by this one. Most of us in the Quad Cities know where to go to get amazing chocolate treats in our area, but now one QC chocolate maker has been recognized as one of the best in the Midwest.

TravelAwaits.com has just named Lagomarcino's one of the 11 Best Chocolate Shops in the Midwest.  It's not hard to see why. Have you ever tried their sponge candy?

The Lagomarcino family has been making chocolate in the Quad Cities since 1908 when it first opened as an ice cream parlor and luncheonette. Today Lagomarcino's confections are made in their original copper kettle kitchen in the original downtown Moline location.

If you want to create your own chocolate trail adventure to all 11 shops across the Midwest you'll find Crown Candy Kitchen, St. Louis, MO, Palmer Candy in Sioux City, Iowa and Van Veen Chocolates in Pella, Iowa. Here's where you can find all 11 of the shops with the best chocolate in the Midwest.

Now that I have the thought of candy in my head, I'll need to go pick up some of those pecan dainties and sponge candy.
