The local boys of summer are taking a run at a championship.

The Quad Cities River Bandits defeated Cedar Rapids on Monday night to punch their ticket to the Midwest League Championship series. The best-of-five series open on Wednesday night in Fort Wayne against the Tincaps. Game three will take place on Saturday at 6:30pm at Modern Woodmen Park, with a 4th and 5th game played here Sunday and Monday as well, if necessary.

The Bandits won two-of-three games against Fort Wayne when they met for the only time back in early May.

Quad Cities based teams have won six league championships, the most recent being the Bandits win in 2013.

You can hear every game of the series on KBOB AM 1170.

Bring home a pennant, Bandits.
