This was the news no one wanted to hear.

Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts stepped away from touring earlier this month after an undisclosed medical condition. Steve Jordan was to take his place in the interim.

According to Watts' publicist, the iconic drummer and original member of the band has died. He was 80 years old.

The BBC reports Watts died at a London hospital earlier today surrounded by family.

We don't have details as to the cause of his death, but will bring those to you as more information becomes available.
