As Rory Feek settles back into living in Tennessee after the death of his wife, Joey, he's laying out life's next steps based on conversations he had with her. The Joey + Rory singer reveals that Joey often urged him to let their story be known.

"She talked to me about how she wants me to continue to tell our story, and other stories," Rory tells People. "This past spring I co-wrote and directed my first film, and she wants me to go on and continue writing and making more movies."

Rory has been chronicling the duo's life together on his own personal blog, This Life I Live, but if he takes Joey's advice, he may one day tell the couple's story in book form.

"She's also encouraged me to write a book. Joey and I have both experienced the power of living, and telling a great story, so I hope to be able to continue writing and being part of a great story," he adds.

Joey Feek passed away on Friday, March 4 after a long battle with cervical cancer. In 2014, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and underwent successful surgery. One year later she found out that the cancer had returned. In October 2015 she announced that she was ending treatment to return home to live, not die. She fought to live through the Grammy Awards, where the duo were nominated, as well as their daughter Indiana’s second birthday. Once she accomplished this, Joey told Rory it was her time to go, so she said her goodbyes and settled into a deep sleep before she passed.

Joey was laid to rest in a simple wood box on the couple's Tennessee farm on Tuesday, March 8 after a private ceremony was held. In lieu of flowers, fans are urged to send donations to:
