Roxette Singer Marie Fredriksson Dies at 61

Roxette is a popular duo that came out of Sweden and hit it big in the U.S. back in the '80s and '90s with iconic hits "The Look", "Joyride", "Listen to Your Heart" and more.

We have sad news to report today that after a 17-year battle with brain cancer, one-half of Roxette, Marie Fredriksson has passed away at age 61. Our condolences go out to her family, friends, loved ones, her duet partner Per Gessle and all of their bandmates.

She had reportedly stopped touring three years ago on doctor's orders and is survived by her husband and two children.

An official statement from her management team that was given to the Daily Mail said this:

Marie Fredriksson is most mourned by her husband Mikael Bolyos and their two children.' It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone. Marie Fredriksson passed away in the morning of December 9, as a result of her previous illness.
