You might want to batten down the hatches this afternoon. We could be in for some stormy weather.

Severe weather is possible across the Quad City area late Wednesday and Wednesday night, especially across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. According to the NWS of the Quad Cities, the main hazards with storms will be damaging winds, large hail and torrential rainfall. There is also a low potential for tornadoes. The most likely timing for severe storms will be from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

It didn't take long for conditions to dry out after a wet weekend. The much needed rain will also fall for areas north of I-80 but this will come with an increased flash flood risk.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 3pm and 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Here's the forecast according to NOAA and the NWS of the Quad Cities.
