The artist most KIIK 104.9 listeners want to see play the Quad Cities is Green Day. Green Day received 15% of the vote with Foreigner, Def Leppard and Billy Joel following close behind. Write in votes included: Jimmy Buffett, Shinedown and Kid Rock.

As I said in the poll post, I always find it interesting to see what artists we don't generally play that score well in the poll. Green Day being the most popular was a little surprising to me, but only a little. I was in college during Green Day's emergence as a great, fun, alternative band. Their music has a lot of what I, and I think others, like from good rock bands: It's fun, fast paced (I would say upbeat, but not if you listen to the lyrics) and they're still popular. Plus, they put on a great show.

The artists right behind Green Day are artists you would expect to make most of our lists: Foreigner, Def Leppard and Billy Joel. I haven't personally seen Foreigner, but I'd love to. Def Leppard still puts on great shows. And Billy Joel is on my bucket list.

Other artists getting some love include: Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Chicago, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John. The most surprising thing from this poll are the artists who didn't get the love. That would be Styx, R.E.O. Speedwagon, Aerosmith, Journey, Cheap Trick and Steve Perry.

Of course it's a poll. There were lots of choices. And it's not exactly scientific. So just because some artists didn't get any love doesn't mean they wouldn't sell out the Quad Cities if they showed up to the play the TaxSlayer Center. I'd be excited if anyone on the list showed up to play here in the QC.
