There's a new beer made from Iowa corn that will hit the shelves soon at QC Hy-Vee and Fareway. It's the result of a collaboration involving Peace Tree Brewing Co. and some of the state's farmers.

The key ingredient in Peace Tree Brewing's new limited-edition Cornucopia beer is Iowa corn, which WHO-TV reported was carried in buckets and poured into the top of the mash tun at the brewery.

A post on Peace Tree Brewing's Facebook page said the beer is brewed at its Knoxville branch and will arrive in Iowa stores and all three Peace Tree taprooms in late October.

The limited-edition Cornucopia beer will be available through participating Hy-Vee, Fareway and other beer locations throughout Iowa. The draft will be available at participating craft beer bars and restaurants throughout Iowa.

The Cornucopia is an earthy, Belgian style beer with a hint of fruit to round it out.  It is very drinkable, but still has the complexities to intrigue the seasoned craft beer drinker as well as the novice.

You might this this is corny, but I say 'cheers' to beer and Iowa farmers.
