Throwing Pet Parties: Yay or Nay?

Yesterday, I experienced something I am both humored by and, at the same time, not sure I know exactly where I stand on it.

A cat party. Seriously. I was invited to a birthday party a lady was throwing for her cat. I knew my 7 year old would be thrilled and my older girls would probably just roll their eyes. I wasn't sure what to think, although I laughed a lot. Then, I realized there are several people I know and love, who would throw a birthday party for their pet!

The rise in 'everything pets' is definitely something I have taken note of over the past few years. Grocery stores just used to have dog food, dog collars, a few pet bowls and flea/tick sprays for animals when I was growing up. Now, there are entire pet stores and even bakeries just for pets! Is there a line that should be drawn, though? What is considered 'overboard' when it comes to pampering your pet?
