Uber, Google, Ford and More Combining to Bring Driverless Cars to the Streets
Self-Driving cars could be on the streets even sooner than we think.
A new coalition, which contains ride-hailing services Uber and Lyft, Google and car companies Ford and Volvo, has come together to try and find a safe and efficient way to bring driverless cars to the showroom floor.
Titled the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets, officials say the group "will work with lawmakers, regulators and the public to realize the safety and societal benefits of self-driving cars."
Only time will tell if these companies can influence legislators enough to significantly move up the timeline for putting driverless cars on the streets.
