Recently we told you people feeding the water fowl at Vander Veer Park was probably the reason the lagoon wasn't freezing. If the water is populated by ducks waiting for their next meal they won't migrate, won't leave, and won't let the water freeze over for skaters.

Whether Quad Citians stopped feeding the birds, the ducks naturally migrated, or it's so danged cold, we're happy to report the lagoon is frozen. It's solid and ready for skaters.

The ice has been cleared of snow and it's ready for skating, however with the frigid temps in our area, it might not be a bad idea to wait until it warms up a bit. You can always go to The Rivers Edge in downtown Davenport to be indoors and stay quite a bit warmer.
